An unexpected turn in the right direction

As of Thursday morning my Associate Teacher confirmed that I was  GOOD TO COME IN AND DO MY OBSERVATIONS!!! Nothing was to be put out of wack or behind schedule.

That being said, today was my first official day of Observing as a Teacher Candidate !

p.s. Dad I'm writing this for you because I so abruptly hung up today when you asked me about it ahah sorry!!

Let's starts with my perpetrating yesterday! As this was a last minute ordeal I was severely unprepared and did not have the ample amount of hours necessary to make rash decisions, specifically my outfit choice!

So last night began with a mall trip with two of my roomies to hit up teacher ish stores. I may or may not have bought a few things at Forever 21 Jewelery wise, and a few things at Suzy Shear.. One of my roommates had 50% off at SS so we took advantage hard!

We went to the gym to destress and then went hkme to begin the prep!
Lunch
Food
Shower
Outfit
Hair
Clothes
Police check
This thing
That thing
That other thing
Everything

So we did that ahah

For those of you who know me well you'll know that I have aprx .458% confidence when it comes to getting dressed in the morning. It's a complete disaster if I have no guidence. Luckily my roommates knew this and helped me (dressed me the night before. Head to toe! Good people those two <3

I went to bed at around 11 (stupid Ash), and woke up at 5am to take advantage of the full hour and a half that I would need to put my clothes on... I told you I was ridiculous!

Exausted and irritable I get dressed and glam up and get ready! With 4 minutes to go I scarf down my cereal and Roomie  photos. Naturally the priorities in the house.
Adorable in my opinion.

Meg and I carpooled to our placements at the far off end of Halton region! Due to the fact that we left almost an hour early than needed we got to the schools an hour earlier than needed. Plenty of time for drinking tea, and going to the washroom and oh yeah FORGETTING YOUR LUNCH!!!! Forgot my lunch in Megs car on the first day of school :( good one Ash !

I went into the school to meet my teacher at 8am and she showed me around the school a bit and to her room and office where I would be for the most part.

Let it be said that my Associate Teacher is hands down the most adorable little lady in the world! She is so kind and helpful and caring it is unreal! I think her and I are going to have a good relationship at the school!
I sat in on her first two classes, then she left for a little while only to return and tell me that her and another teacher (coincidently my friends mom! Who is also amazing and adorable and full of good vibes!) put together a lunch for me!!!!! That is the nicest thing in all of the world!

I finished the day sitting in her office prepping as her next class had a test and 4th period spare. Coincidently I will be teaching the 3rd period class that I didn't observe haha

Needless to say, I'm excited :)

Also, sorry for the delay! Been a busy week!!!!

24 September 2014

Put one foot in front of the other one..oh oh oh

Boy oh boy do I have some updates for you. Not all entirely superb, but not all entirely sucky either.

Lets start with our Agenda:
- Fashion Friday Update
- Jackson's Birthday !
- Placement

I forgot to update on Friday, so here were last weeks outfits!

Monday

Tuesday

Wedneaday

Thuraday

Friday

Sunday

Not to shab! Feeling real good about not outfit repeating as much as I did last year. Oh the perils of having class with the same people day after day #teacherscollegelife

As per Fridays photo, you can see that my favorite and most handsome man in the world turned TWO YEARS OLD!!!! We celebrated at home with Swiss Chalet and Cake, and then again at the park with all Jackson's Friends and Family. It was adorable because he is finally at that age where he understands whats up kind of.

He is actually unbelievably cute.

Moving on though!

Placement.....

I didn't get one.

Okay, I mean I did. But I didn't know about it until yesterday when I should have known about a week ago. Also its 45 minutes from here. Also I miss the first three Observation Days where I am supposed to do two assignments and learn the culture of the school and of the classroom and students and so on.

I sat through an hour of class listening to how important Observation Days are only to be re-told that I will not fully have that opportunity.

Everyone is telling me that it is going to work out.. which I know it will.. I just don't agree that in Teachers College I should have to be 'working out' the major aspect of the program its self.

I am going to email my Associate Teacher tonight and sort things out. I am confident that I will learn and love and thrive at my placement... I'm just grumpy now.

Here is some fun. to finish off the rant.

Peace.

September...having a time.

Extremely unmotivated to write

Going to do it anyways because that is why I started a blog.

Wont be long though! Boom.

Agenda for the evening:

  • School Update
  • TV Update
  • Earing Update
  • Fitness Update

School Update

Where to begin! These past two weeks have be filled with a turmoil of emotion and questions and decisions and looking into the future. A lot to handle all at once.

I've managed to move past all that and am now kind of realizing how much I don't know and how little confidence I have in terms of teaching. I know I am passionate and I know I love working with teenagers, but its all that comes in between that I am unsure about.

After bringing this up to a few people, I can confidently say that I am not the only one who feels this way, and to be honest, I think anyone who says they know what they're doing are filled with B.S.

I am going to do my best to make this year all about learning opportunities and recognizing my resources and I am going to hope that my passion and the work I put forward is enough to keep me in the game until I figure myself out. Word.

TV Update

Mindy Project. OBSESSED!
So classy and sassy and witty and nitty and everything from A to Z!

Go, everyone please! Watch Mindy Project and fall in love.

Also, its on Netflix.
Also, she came out with a book that I plan to read ASAP!

NEW GIRL IS BACK ON TONIGHT ALSO!
Go watch that after you finish watching Mindy!

HABS ARE BACK ON IN 22 DAYS!
and they have 4 alternate captains this year which should make for an interesting season.
GO HABS GO!

Tay and I seeing Montreal Canadians in Buffalo!

Earing Update

In July I went to Burlington with one of my roommates Erin, and we got some piercings. I got my rook pierced and all was fine and dandy. (Rook is a crevasse in your ear for all that don't know)

As it healed it started to move forward which is apparently called piercing migration.

This migration led to the complete loss of my piercing! I went back to the piercer and he says that clearly my ear was rejecting it as it pushed it though about a centimeter of cartilage by itself.

I'm kind of impressed. Also really bummed out because I loved having my rook done!

Fitness Update

Drum roll please...

I'VE KEPT UP GOING TO THE GYM!
4 runs, various machines, and a BodyPump class under my belt here in Hamilton! If I can keep this up then I will be fit and fabulous (and most importantly healthy), in NO TIME!.

Alright folks,
Thats all I have in me for today.

Word to Big Bird,

10 September 2014

Good vibes and achievements all around

Guess who went to the gym at 6:30 am today...

THIS GUY!

We went to one of the Women's Goodlife Fitness' in Hamilton this morning at 6:30 am!
(Who knew I'd actually wake up to go)

Special Thanks to my Beautiful roommates for waking up and kicking butt with me this morning ! Endless motivation coming from them.

As this was my first time back to the gym in a few weeks I was expecting a rough start, but I think I held my own pretty well!

Started off with a 3km run on the treadmill, a little slow, but I never stopped !

After this, I did some work on the Lat Pulldpwn Machine, then the Delt Fly Machine.
Followed by a plank pyramid to top off the workout!

I feel really accomplished finally getting back to the gym. I find it is always a lot easier to keep going once you've gone once and I really hope that I can keep this up. With the motivation and positive vibes around me I think I will be okay :)

In addition to the gym, a few other radical things happened.

First and Formost,
GOOD VIBES TO PAULINA WHO IS CURRENTLY WRITING A GIANT ACCOUNTING EXAM! Day 3 starts tomorrow and I think she's going to do AMAZIN'!

On that note, she sent me a funny joke today:

She's hilarious. ;) ahaha

On the same note as nice texts, a friend from school sent me a beautiful text out of the blue saying a plethora of nice things! It was so sweet and unexpected and I sometimes can't believe that there are people so thoughtful. It's refreshing and amazing and I am filled with gratitude  to have a friend like that at school with me <3

Last beautiful thing to happen, both my drama coordinator, and favorite drama prof emailed me and they both went on about how much they miss our Drama group and how it's different this year and they've all been thinking about it. Once again it is just so nice to know that people miss you and have such high thoughts about you.

Making a difference in the lives of people around me is all I hope to do in my life.

Keep on keepin' on friends,

9 September 2014

Time for Kanye's Workout Plan!

...and the winner of the 'Person-Who-Continues-To-Procrastinate-Going-To-The-Gym' Award goes to.....

Yours truly .

Man! I don't know whats up with me lately! I used to be a gym go-hard, and now I just CANNOT seem to get back into it.

I know I want to.

I know I should.

I'm already signed up.

I have no excuse.

Okay great motivation Ash!!

Somehow I justified that if I write a blog about it then maybe I'll be more likely to go. Then I remembered I have a reading to do for tomorrow, and my roommates and I are going to watch RENT, and I have extremely low iron, and this excuse and that excuse.

NO MORE EXCUSES! BOOM! LIFE CHANGING MOMENT RIGHT HERE! LADIES AND GENTS YOU SEE IT HERE FIRST!

I, Ashley, will go to the gym, TOMORROW MORNING! Before the 10am class! Maybe I'll leave at 6:30 am, and get home for 8am, and shower and get ready and go to school feeling accomplished and great!

Why not today you may ask? Well like I said, RENT and readings... but that is why I'm motivated for tomorrow. This is for real. Enough people read this that I will feel like garbage having to write another post about how I didn't go.

There you have it folks.

Back on the road to fitness.

Home, Hamilton, Teachers College and Back

Disclaimer: This is going to be a long post.

Welcome friends!

This has been quite the hectic week let me tell you!

Moved to Hamilton

Started Teachers College

Frosh Weekend back on my turf

...so it seemed more eventful in my head. Classic.

The move to Hamilton was flawless to say the least.

I'm going to be honest and admit that I'm not vibing with Hamilton yet. It's just a new place, new school, new people. A lot to take in.

With 8 months ahead of me I am going to do my best to stay positive and work hard. This is the situation I am in and there is no good in being negative about it! Am I right!?

On that note, Teachers College is about 698273826 x more overwhelming than I had thought it would be!

Here's a picture of me pretending I'm fine:

One of my biggest concerns for this first week was honestly what I was going to wear. A little ridiculous because as a future teacher I shouldn't be so concerned with what I look like, but new school, new year, new Ash. (Degrassi quote ;P)

I've decided that every Friday I am going to post a blog showcasing my
Outfits Of The Day !

Quick preview:

Wednesday

Thursday:

Friday:

So far I'm feeling rather 'on point'. Thoughts ?

This weekend (as in yesterday) I went back up to St. Catharines to see my stomping grounds (metaphoric, not literal... I wish right!)

Friday I spent the evening watching Game of Thrones with my lovely lovely Boyfriend, Taylor ! So nice to get to spend time with him considering he's in Niagara and I'm either in Newmarket or Hamilton... Naturally the best way to spend that time was watching TV. Very romantic on our parts (to be fair, he made me a VERY nice dinner pre-tv. Thanks Tay!)

Saturday Taylor worked in the morning so I went to Starbucks and did some homework, sat at the window and watched the rain while the smooth sounds of Starbz happened around me.
Real Talk: I felt very posh doing it ahah

After that came SUSHI! Which was then followed by more Game of Thrones, followed by an Arby's double date with my old roommate. Not upset with the food situation this weekend AT ALL!

My night was unbelievable eventful to top that all off!

Timeline:
- Got ready with the girls (Girls being my current roomies who also came up to St.Kits this weekend)
- Went to the Arby's roommates house for a PARTAY where all my first year roommates ended up being ! Super cute and unexpected!
A lot had happened in 4 years, but this picture can not be any cuter!
- House partied for a few hours and made our way to the bar
- Went to Mansion House, because the patio was bumping!

- Went to Chilli's to meet up with some friends
- Left Chilli's to sit outside of a third bar and watch a fire breather show after the lovely Chip Truck man have us some Free French Fries! Legitimately the nicest man in the world!
I told him id write about it in my blog ;)
Find him in Downtown St. Catharines beside L3! Highly recommended!

- Ended the night watching this drunk 1st  year named Ryan physically overstep his boundaries with a basketball player about 9 times his size.
- Drove the girls home (I was DD), drove Tay and I home to sleep and 5 hours later I was on duty for driving my roommates back to Hamilton.

So here I am now, a week later with a handful of experiences under my belt.

Exhausted, Tired, Hungry, Overwhelmed and enjoy my last year as a student. Bitter Sweet.

Live it up my friends :)
