They call me Ms.S....

Oh my gosh! I'm teaching real kids in a real class with real textbooks and real knowledge!
Might as well start calling me Coach Carter or Freedom Writers!

Okay maybe not yet, but really soon I imagine!

So here was my day as a teacher yesterday:
5:45am Wake Up
6:50am leave
7:01am HIT TRAFFIC!
I left five minutes later than normal and hit the apocalypse of traffic! My GPS kept saying 7:41, 7:44, 7:48, 7:50, 7:58 !!! So naturally I'm freaking out a bit! I don't teach until third period but I like to be at the school for 7:45, or 7:50 the latest!
7:56am Got o the school! MADE IT! WOOHOOOOO .... only spent about a quarter tank in stop-and-go :/
8:00am-10:30am - Sat in the office, sweating profusely through my Blazer (fact.) and  planned and I planned and I planned and I planned and I photocopied and I googled and I planned some more!
11:00am Go to the classroom to set up my laptop for my PowerPoint and write my Agenda on the board..

and here we go!
I walk in while the class before mine is finishing up, they joke with me about teaching and that calms none of my nerves, and I am pretty sure that at this point my sweat is visible.. super.
I set my self up and we find out we don't have the LCD projector remote, so I just jump in and give a fumbled introduction of myself. Having a teacher watch you introduce yourself is weirdly nerve wrecking... like why am I weird about introductions!

Anyways, I jump straight into comedian mode and start cracking awkward jokes about myself and how my PowerPoint WOULDN'T start! Then I found out that half the class was on a field trip and I was having the class do an assignment for marks!!! Yikes!

Through all of this, I stuck to my lesson plan and hit all my timing marks and the class seemed really nice and decently behaved! Not even mad :)

1:30pm-2:30pm -Took off my sweaty jacket and planned for the next day

WHICH WAS TODAY!

Went about the same and the entire class was there!!! Super chatty!! But it that is the worst of it then I am very lucky :) I didn't get through my entire lesson today and I think it is because I account for every minute and having lunch in the middle of class jumbles the flow.

All in all, I am loving Teaching! I'll of course love it more when I have my own class and unit flow, but until then!

Have a good night er'body!

Ms. S
